Guyatone SD2 Sustainer: Distortion is a form of compression, and lead guitar solos depend on that fact for their singing sustaining tones. The SD2 is a distortion effect primarily, and it also squashes the dynamic range more than some other distortions. So do not buy it if all you want is to increase the sustain of your clean tone. But if you want maximum guitar-solo scream and no dynamics, then the SD2 does that job just fine.
The footswitch is not true bypass, and the construction quality is extremely flimsy. It's discontinued and there are lots of equivalent options out there, so whatever.
